Dele Farotimi, an activist lawyer, insisted on the accusations he made against Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, in his contentious book “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System” on Tuesday.

Farotimi told reporters that he has never lied about anyone in his life and that everything he said about anyone is true.

He was released from the Ekiti State Correctional Centre after fulfilling his bail requirements.

Farotimi said, “It is not ever an easy journey when you are fighting evil, but some years back, before I started this work, God told me that the truth is enough.

“It is the only weapon with which you can slay the monster called Nigeria, which is the truth.

“In my war against the evil empire that we all live in, I have never lied against anyone. If I don’t know, I will say I don’t know.”

The lawyer was arrested earlier this month for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD.

Last Friday, a magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti granted Farotimi bail in the amount of N30 million.

The court also ordered that Farotimi produce two sureties, one of whom must be a property owner, submit his passport, and refrain from giving media interviews after his release.
