A fire has destroyed a residential building in Iseyin, Oyo State’s Iseyin Local Government Area.

Iseyin is one of the local government areas in the state’s Oke Ogun geopolitical zone, according to our correspondent.

ZINGTIE learned that on Thursday, a fire completely destroyed the house in the Atake, Adebo neighborhood of Oja-Oba, Iseyin.

It was discovered that the incident happened at approximately 4:00 p.m.

According to reports, the fire damaged assets valued at millions of naira.

Our correspondent has been informed that the incident did not result in any fatalities.

Hon. Maroof Akinwande, the chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, attested to the occurrence.

In a statement provided to ZINGTIE on Friday, Akinwande stated that the event had impacted assets valued at millions of naira.

He said that a power surge was the cause of the fire.

He said “On Thursday, 21st August, 2025 at exactly 16:04hrs, a distressed call was reported through telephone call. The agency’s officers led by ACFS Azeez Muritala quickly mobilized and responded to the scene and on getting there, it was an ancient residential building with adjoining shop met well alight.

“No casualties were recorded and the properties worth millions of naira was affected by fire. The incident was as a result of electric surge.

“The SA on Fire Reform/Chairman Fire Services Agency, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande urge the public to be conscious of fire.”
