Olamide, a Nigerian rapper, has amassed over 1 billion Spotify plays over his career.

Because he incorporates Afrobeats into his music and collaborations, he is the first African rapper to accomplish this achievement.

Olamide also made history last year by becoming the first rapper from Africa to receive a Grammy nomination.

Tyla’s “Water” defeated his joint single with Asake, “Amapiano,” which was nominated in the first Best African Music Performance category.
