Fresh Military Operation Sends Strong Message in Southern Tumbuns

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has continued high-intensity air operations, successfully destroying terrorist hideouts in the Southern Tumbuns region of Borno State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Air Force Headquarters, the mission was executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

According to the statement, the precision air interdiction mission took place on April 24, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m. over Ali Sheriffti, a known terrorist enclave within the Southern Tumbuns.

The NAF stated that the operation followed credible intelligence indicating terrorist activity in the area, leading to a targeted surveillance mission during which several insurgents were observed moving along concealed pathways.

The identified targets were subsequently tracked to structures hidden beneath thick vegetation, confirming deliberate efforts to conceal their presence.

After positive identification, NAF air assets carried out a precise strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions.

The statement noted that the mission achieved its objective, resulting in the destruction of the terrorist structures, further weakening their operational capacity and limiting their mobility within the area.

The force added that the strike highlights its commitment to intelligence-driven, precision-based operations aimed at eliminating terrorist safe havens.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reiterated the service’s determination, stating that the Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with sustained efforts.

He further assured that operations would be intensified to ensure the safety of the nation and its citizens.
