The Taraba chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday denied reports claiming that Governor Agbu Kefas had endorsed all serving members of the National Assembly and the Taraba State House of Assembly for automatic tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party described the reports as misleading and inaccurate, stressing that no final decision has been taken regarding the emergence of candidates for elective positions.
Speaking on the development, the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Aaron Artimas, clarified that the process of selecting consensus candidates is still ongoing in line with the party’s internal democratic procedures.
According to him, Governor Agbu Kefas constituted three consensus committees across the state’s senatorial zones to facilitate consultations among party stakeholders and ensure a transparent and peaceful process ahead of the elections.
Artimas explained that the committees were established to harmonise interests and strengthen unity within the party, noting that their recommendations are yet to be concluded or adopted by the party leadership.
He urged party members and the public to disregard speculations suggesting that automatic tickets or endorsements had already been granted to serving lawmakers.
The APC spokesman further reaffirmed the party’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness and due process in the selection of candidates for the 2027 elections.
