Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, is under investigation once more for allegedly selling the Kano State Multi-Million Naira Abattoir.

An 11-member panel has already been established to look into the Ganduje administration’s suspected sale of Nigerian Meat and Allied Products, NIMAP, Abattoir.

The administration of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is claimed to have constructed the multibillion-dollar facility, which occupies a large amount of land in the Chalawa Industrial Area. It was intended to provide a variety of services that would bring in money and open up employment opportunities for the Kano people.

Secretary to the State Government Umar Faruq Ibrahim, who opened the committee on Wednesday at the Cabinet Office, stated that the inquiry is necessary to hold the current administration responsible.

The SSG, who established the committee on behalf of the governor, maintained that it is the duty of the current administration to safeguard vital state infrastructure that has been unlawfully sold at auction for private gain.

According to the SSG, the inquiry panel led by Muhuyi Magagi Rimin-Gado, the former chairman of the state anti-corruption agency, was tasked with recovering public assets and suggesting disciplinary actions against those found to be at fault.

The government requested the panel to carry out its mandate without fear or favor, but in the general interest of justice and equity.

” The committee is mandated to probe the circumstances surrounding the sale of the land and equipment in the Nigerian Meat and Allied Products (NIMAP) Abattoir.

” You are to review all documents, agreements and approval if any related to the transaction, and assess the level of compliance with relevant laws and due process.

“The committee is also expected to determine the roles and culpability of individuals, organizations, or government agencies involved in the despicable act, and recover any public funds, assets, or equipment lost in the process.

“Recommend possible legal, administrative, or disciplinary actions or measures against those found culpable, Verify the legality of the transactions and assess whether due process was followed in the valuation and price fixing.

“Suggest any other measures which in the opinion of the committee could prevent future similar occurrence. And propose steps to facilitate the establishment of a modern meat processing plant that meets international standards.” SSG noted.

Rimin-Gado, the group’s chairman, praised the choices of committee members and reaffirmed their dedication to delivering.

The anti-graft activist teased that the call to service would be handled with care and that the probe would be carried out diligently without “fear, favor, or affection.”

Within three weeks, the committee is supposed to turn in its report.
