A zonal analysis revealed that the South-South zone had the highest average retail prices for both cylinder sizes, ₦8,871.63 for 5 kg and ₦22,179.08 for 12.5 kg. The South-West recorded the lowest regional averages at ₦7,960.42 and ₦20,402.42, respectively.

The report is based on data collected by over 700 NBS officials from more than 10,000 gas retail outlets across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. The findings reflect household spending on gas and are verified by an independent audit team to ensure accuracy.

The steady rise in gas prices comes at a time when many Nigerians are shifting from traditional fuels to cleaner energy options, making affordability a growing concern in the energy consumption landscape.
