As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for its much awaited national convention in Ibadan, Bode George, a party chieftain, attacked a party group for what he called selfish behavior, factionalism, and existential imbecility.
George made the comments on Thursday while answering questions during a ZINGTIE-monitored interview on Arise Television.
He rejected recent proposals to suspend the convention or establish a caretaker committee, claiming that these actions were unneeded and unlawful.
Despite persistent disagreements among some members, the PDP stalwart emphasized that the party is still unified.
“You know, in this country it amazes me the way people roll around purely for their selfish ends, saying ‘I am this or that.’ That’s quite something. So what has he done? Telling us on the eve of the convention that we should go and form a caretaker committee. You know, I totally disagree with him,” he said.
He maintains that the PDP’s fundamental leadership structure is still in place, pointing out that the majority of National Working Committee (NWC) members are in favor of the planned convention.
George outlined what he considers to be careless behavior within the PDP, contending that it dishonors the party’s founders’ legacy.
