Gift of Hope: Foundation Donates to Advance Mental Health Research

The Montreal-based Douglas Foundation has announced a C$2 million ($1.4 million) gift from the Lise and Giuseppe Racanelli Foundation to advance research on brain disorders and mental illnesses. The gift will bolster the Douglas Brain Bank, which collects, preserves, and makes brain tissue samples available internationally for research on mental illness and neurodegenerative disease

In addition, it will support the creation of the Douglas Centre for Integrative Multi-Scale Neuroscience, an initiative to advance research and care in mental health, which will bring together several facilities, including the Brain Imaging Centre, the Douglas Neuroinformatics Platform, and the Computational Brain Anatomy Lab (CoBrA).

Racanelli Foundation president Véronique Racanelli said, “We have always believed in the importance of giving back and have chosen to prioritise health, both physical and mental, particularly its accessibility.
