On Thursday, the government of Abia State conducted a state burial service to honor the late evangelist Rev. Uma Ukpai, who passed away at the age of 80.
During the event at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia State, Governor Alex Otti urged the people to lead virtuous lives so that they would be favorably remembered.
Governor Otti remarked that Papa Uma Ukpai did not die but merely transited, as his legacies would remain indelible.
He called on Abia, the people of Akwa Ibom and all Christians to refrain from mourning and instead lead lives that others would want to imitate.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his deputy Akon Eyakenyi, also spoke and described Rev Uma Ukpai as a visionary who has cultivated a good generation of people.
In his sermon, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, stated that the late Uma Ukpai dedicated his work to God and humanity rather than serving money.
The State burial service drew numerous dignitaries, including Governor Doye Diri, former presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and John Mbata, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, among others.
