Fauziyah Mohammed, a 19-year-old 400-level student at Kogi State University in Akungba, has been located in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Fauziyah, the student, told reporters about her incident in tears on Monday at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC) state headquarters in Ilorin. She said she couldn’t understand what had happened to her.

She was unable to provide a detailed explanation of how she got from Akungba to Ilorin.

She claimed that all she could recall was that she was in Ilorin when her book fell when she was on the grounds of Kogi State University in Akungba and she was trying to pick it up.

Garba Mohammed, the Corps Commandant, revealed at Monday’s parade of the student in front of reporters that Fauziyah was found at Ajegunle Isale, Egbejila community of Ilorin metropolis.

“She was handed over to a security officer, DSO Joel Adebola Afolayan, by members of the community who informed that Fauziyah was found wandering on November 30, 2024.

“Upon interview of Fauziyah by Joel, she said she did not know how she got to Kwara State from Kogi State.

“The DSO was able to reach the family of Fauziyah through phone calls in which Malam Salihu Aliu, who is an uncle to her, was delegated by the family to act on their behalf here in Ilorin,” the commandant stated.

In relation to the kidnapping of a mother and her two children, the commandant also declared the arrest of Abu Usman Soldier, a kidnap suspect.

The mother has been freed, but the two children remain in captivity since the abductors have not yet received the N50 million ransom that was negotiated down to N15 million.
