According to reports, a Nigerian woman named Amara Vanessa, who lives in Nnewi, Anambra State, called off her wedding one day prior to the planned ceremony due to emotional differences with her fiancé.

Vanessa posted a heartfelt message on social media explaining her reasons for the abrupt decision, leading to the cancellation of the wedding scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025, on Tuesday, January 7.

In her post, Vanessa expressed her emotional toll she has experienced; “Anywhere you see me, just dash me money ‘cos 2024 showed me shege and pepper with a little bit of ice cream mixed with bitter leaf, then medium size of fufu and ora soup but I came out stronger and better”

She went on to say that personal difficulties and a resolve to stay away from emotionally taxing relationships were the reasons behind the wedding postponement.

“I was supposed to be married tomorrow but I cancelled it due to some personal reasons. I can’t afford anymore situations in my life that bring out the worst in me. I can’t afford bonding with another wrong souls. It’s exhausting and requires too much for me to recover from. I need calmness and gentleness in my life. I need love, and I need my own man.”

Her choice has generated a lot of responses online, with many praising her bravery in putting her emotional health ahead of social norms.

While some internet users questioned the reasons behind the cancellation so close to the event, others applauded her for having the guts to end a relationship she believed to be toxic.

Vanessa has not elaborated on the circumstances behind her abrupt choice, but her message emphasises the value of emotional intelligence and inner serenity in partnerships.

Although friends and family have not yet publicly commented on the matter, Vanessa’s candour has spurred discussions about marital emotional health, relationship pressures, and self-worth.
