The Nigerian government has prohibited the broadcast of Eedris Abdulkareem’s latest protest track, ‘Tell Your Papa’.

The announcement was made Thursday evening by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), which deemed the song inappropriate and offensive for public airwaves.

In a directive signed by Susan Obi, the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, NBC instructed all radio and television stations across the country to stop airing the song.

According to the memo, “The National Broadcasting Commission has identified ‘Tell Your Papa’ song by Eedris Abdulkareem, currently trending on social media, as content deemed inappropriate for broadcast following its objectionable nature.”

“It is therefore classified as Not To Be Broadcast, NTBB, as it violates Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. The content is considered inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency.”

The track, released earlier this week, has stirred online controversy due to its outspoken criticism of Nigeria’s leadership and economic struggles.

In the lyrics, the artist addresses Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, urging him to confront his father about the worsening conditions faced by citizens.
