I will not pardon him – U.S. President Joe Biden says following conviction of his first son

In his initial remarks on the subject, US President Joe Biden reaffirmed that he would not pardon his son Hunter, who was found guilty of federal firearms offenses in Delaware.

This week, Hunter Biden was convicted on three federal counts, capping an emotionally charged trial that uncovered numerous dark and intimate moments for the Biden family.

The 81-year-old Biden referred to his son as “one of the brightest, most decent men I know” at a joint press appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but he also said, “I will not pardon him.”

Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, hinted on Wednesday that Biden had not wholly ruled out reducing Hunter’s sentence related to the gun charge.

The president has tried to differentiate between his acceptance of the jury’s decision and challenger Donald Trump’s assertion that the legal system is “rigged” in favor of his legal problems.
