IgboMustGo threat: Lagos Dep. Gov Hamzat reveal details everyone should know

The anti-Igbo slogan was criticised by Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, who stated that ethnic prejudice has no place in the state.

Speaking on Arise TV’s “The Morning Show,” Hamzat stated that the Lagos State government has been including young people in a variety of fields to get them involved in how the nation is administered.

In addition, he declared that the state government will keep reaching out to and interacting with young people in the hopes that doing so would help them work together and as partners with the government to accomplish the goals and initiatives that have been established.

The Deputy Governor stated there is no room for ethnic bigotry in Lagos State while denouncing the statement made by “Lagospedia” on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the hashtag #Igbomustgo#.

He went on to say that such a remark had no place in Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s policy orientation, pointing out that Lagos is a city where people from different tribes live in harmony with one another and that the government will not permit unidentified people to divide them.

He asserts that the government will never permit the division of the state, despite certain individuals’ best efforts.

He said: “These faceless people just came up and said the Igbo must leave, this is absolute nonsense; which is why the Governor immediately denounced it. Lagos is accommodating and that is who we are.

“Even when we were young, we’ve all lived together peacefully and there is no need for people to become ethnic bigots.”

The Deputy Governor outlined some of the programs the present administration has implemented to guarantee young engagement and help them realise their full potential for success. She also mentioned that some state youth have received sponsorships to visit other nations in order to observe how other nations run their affairs.

He said: “We think that we cannot be a metropolitan state without a rail and finishing the blue and red line is our target. Let us be able to move our people conveniently.”

Reiterating the state’s commitment to boosting regional agricultural output will help to address food price inflation, boost economic growth, and advance food security.
