According to reports, a market in Kano state has been closed due to claims of prostitution and other immoral activities.
According to reports, the local government of Kano state closed the Kwanar Gafan Tomato Market after receiving credible information about the involvement of young people and married women in the activities.
ZINGTIE has learnt that the Council’s Chairman, Aminu Kadawa, confirmed the incident by saying that the traders and other market occupants were given a seven-day warning to leave the market.
He said, “Looking at how the market has become a centre for prostitution and other immoral activities contrary to the purpose of the market, it has to be closed indefinitely to restore sanity and .”
He also said that the Commissioner of Tourism and Management, Aisha Saji, attempted to stop the illegal act while she was in office as she paraded the market with security Operatives, as well as men of the Hisbah Board.
She stated that a total of 43 individuals, including 34 females and nine males aged between 15 and 18, were detained for prostitution and illicit sale of alcoholic substances.
It’s shocking to learn that 14 of the people who were detained had HIV. Of those, 10 knew they had the virus, while four did not.
The suspects were from nearby states such as Adamawa, Anambra, Bauchi, Benue, and Taraba in addition to Kano.
