As the Kano emirate tussle intensifies, traditional and official flags were raised at the Nassarawa small palace, occupied by Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano.
According to ZINGTIE, the flag is a symbol of authority and, once raised, indicates the presence of an emir.
Every day, it is typically raised by 6 a.m. and brought down by 6 p.m. It stays in place until the emir leaves the palace or goes on his official business.
The iron rod was used to erect the flag early on Wednesday morning, but it was hauled out later in the evening. It was finally raised on Thursday morning around six a.m.
According to ZINGTIE, the two beleaguered emirs, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero, are still clinging to the Kano Emirate throne while observing and performing all customary rites in their different palaces.
