Kebbi State Govt declares the faith criminals in the state

The Kebbi State Government has restated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, following  the successful rescue of Augustine Madubiya, a400level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi,  who was abducted by unknown assailants on Tuesday.

In a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the swift rescue, achieved within 48 hours, demonstrated Governor Nasir Idris’s  firm stance against criminality.

He credited the coordinated efforts of security agencies and local vigilante groups, acting on the  governor’s directives, for the operation’s success.

“The prompt recovery of Augustine is a testament to Governor Nasir Idris’s commitment to the fight against crime,” he stated.

Ahmed noted that security remains a top priority for the administration, given its role in enabling sustainable development.

“No developmental effort can yield meaningful outcomes in the absence of a secure environment,” he said.

“The bumper harvest witnessed last year is a fitting testament to the effectiveness of our peace restoration measures,” he added.

He highlighted the administration’s efforts since 2023 to address security challenges, particularly in southern Kebbi, where violent attacks had previously displaced farmers and impacted food production.

According to him, recent improvements in local safety conditions have enabled many farmers to return to their lands, a change acknowledged by traditional rulers in the region

“The bumper harvest witnessed last year is a fitting testament to the effectiveness of our peace restoration measures,” he added.

On the lingering threat posed by Lakurawa bandits, the commissioner assured that the government was actively working to address the issue through sustained security strategies.

He called on affected communities to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence

“We must work together with our security forces to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities,” he said.

“Together, we can decisively tackle these threats.”

He stated that in order to keep Kebbi peaceful, the state administration is still committed to forming partnerships between citizens and law enforcement.
