A total of 53 individuals have graduated from the Agboyi-Ketu empowerment initiative, “We Lift Empowerment Training,” with some participants receiving vocational equipment valued at ₦800,000 or more. The initiative, created by the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, aims to equip participants with skills for financial independence and long-term sustainability.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the LCDA Chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, emphasised that the initiative was designed to tackle poverty, security concerns, and other socio-economic challenges. “We didn’t just purchase and distribute equipment as a one-time giveaway, only for beneficiaries to sell them off at a lower value. Instead, we invested in rigorous training programmes lasting between six months and two years,” Oshinowo stated.

Oshinowo noted that the initiative ensures participants receive high-quality equipment suitable for their chosen career paths. “While the minimum equipment value stands at₦500,000, some beneficiaries are receiving tools worth as much as₦800,000, depending on their vocational field,” he said.

Tawakalitu Oshinowo, the chairman’s wife, highlighted the program’s transformative impact since its inception in 2019. “From the beginning, this initiative was designed to be a life-changing experience. We know that if people are empowered with life skills, they are not just equipped for today but for a lifetime of opportunities,” she said.

Addressing the graduates, she commended their dedication and perseverance throughout their one-year intensive training. “To our 53 graduates, you have walked a path that not many have the courage to take. You have endured rigorous training, faced challenges, and perfected your crafts. Today, you don’t just hold certificates—you hold the keys to new opportunities, dreams, and fresh beginnings.”

She further stressed that “We Lift Empowerment Training” is not just about skill acquisition but about ensuring true independence. “What makes today even more special is that we are not just sending you out into the world with skills; we are sending you with confidence, support, and the belief that you can stand on your own. This initiative ensures that no one is left behind.
