Lagos LG poll: Female aspirant seeks compensation from APC

After losing, Mrs. Abimbola Oladokun, a candidate for chairperson of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress, or APC, in Orile Agege, has requested the party leadership to think about paying her.

She also urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and make sure the state’s APC leadership takes her request for compensation into consideration.

In a Monday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), she made the plea.

Recall that the APC secretariat in Ikeja hosted the local government election primaries on May 10.

She claims that she has been faithful to the party and that this will be her seventh time running for office in the final primary.

“I have always been a true servant to my community and my party, I have single handedly been packing waste with my truck at the community level.

“The President told the party leaders to create chances for women to also hold elective positions but I am surprised that the majority of us that contested lost at the primary election.

“I call on the President to intervene in my case. ”

Oladokun said that she has a membership card and has been a party member for decades, having attended Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria, and ACN.

She stated that her community encouraged her to run because of her diligence and that she would still be a devoted APC member in spite of the outcome.

“I am appealing to the party leadership to consider my political ambition and compensate me for being a female aspirant and loyal party member.”

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the chairman of the Lagos State APC, has asked those candidates who were not selected for the party’s ticket to strive for the party’s victory.

According to Ojelabi, the party would honor all devoted and diligent party members.

Everyone should go to the field to encourage voters to support the APC, the state chairman urged.
