In the interest of equity and justice, Oba Sejiro James, the traditional monarch of Kwenme Kingdom in Badagry, has urged his daughter, Princess Damilola James, to withdraw from the next local elections.
In order to maintain a sense of balance in the political representation within the Badagry West Local Council Development Area, LCDA, the king appealed not just to his daughter but also to other candidates from Ward A, which is his home ward.
The advice was given to Princess Damilola, who is seen as a strong candidate for the chairperson position, after Princess Oluremi Ajose, a fellow candidate and the daughter of Oba Oyekan Ajose Possi III, recently visited the palace.
Princess Oluremi requested royal approval for her political aspirations during the visit.
According to Oba Sejiro, the five wards in the LCDA shared a dedication to justice, which served as the foundation for the traditional rulers’ decision to back Princess Oluremi.
“My endorsement and that of other royal fathers is not based on personal preference. It is anchored on fairness,” Oba Sejiro said.
