Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has disclosed that he has encountered a dressing room filled with players who are determined to succeed since returning to the club.
The Portuguese coach is back at the Santiago Bernabeu for a second spell, 13 years after his initial tenure.
Mourinho said the current Real Madrid squad has been receptive to reason and has so far given him little cause to adopt his more confrontational leadership style.
The manager’s return comes after a difficult previous campaign in which Real Madrid ended the season without a trophy.
There were also reports of disagreements among some players during training, while Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa both left their positions after struggling to manage issues within the squad.
Mourinho, however, insisted that the atmosphere he has encountered since his return is significantly different.
“I have found a dressing room that really wants to win. They are very open to common sense.
“I haven’t had any chance to be the aggressive leader that I can be.
“They have protected me from this version of mine because the behaviour has been immaculate,” Mourinho said.
Real Madrid will begin their LaLiga campaign away against Espanyol on Saturday.
