Major political shift emerges ahead of 2027 in Sokoto

The lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the race.

In his place, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Faruk Yabo, has been endorsed as a consensus candidate by the African Democratic Congress.

ZINGTIE recalls that Tambuwal was a presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 general elections but later stepped down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Similarly, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, who served as deputy governor under Tambuwal during his tenure as governor of Sokoto State, has emerged as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.
