A Nigerian man has expressed regret on social media about a 19-year-old oath he took with his then-girlfriend, which may still be having an impact on their romantic relationships years later.

The 35-year-old man disclosed in a post on the well-known website X, formerly known as Twitter, that he and his 36-year-old ex-girlfriend once vowed that they would never discover real love unless they remained together.

He lamented the fact that they were still unmarried years after parting ways, questioning whether the oath was the cause of their extended unmarried status.

He wrote: “I took an oath when I was 19 with my then-girlfriend. The declaration was that no one would find true love if we didn’t stick to each other.”
