A doctor has been arrested by security personnel in Katsina State for reportedly treating infamous bandits, including Usman Modi Modi, a wanted bandit boss.

After intelligence inputs connected the suspect—who was named as Lawan Ado from the state’s Safana Local Government Area—to the treatment of injured bandits, he was taken into custody.

According to information obtained by ZINGTIE, Ado admitted to caring for a number of wounded criminals in various hiding places throughout the state.

The suspect claims that Usman Modi Modi, who had been hurt in a fight with the vigilante group Yan Kyanbara, was his first patient.

“He was first taken to a hospital in Taskiya, but two days later, they brought me to treat him further. I was paid N18,000 for my service,” he added

Reliable sources claim that more research showed Ado had visited numerous different places to treat criminals, including a robber known as Karanboguwa and a number of others.

As police step up their attempts to break up networks that support bandits in the state, his capture represents a major step forward in the battle against banditry.
