There is no leadership void in the Labour Party, Julius Abure, the National Chairman, cautioned Monday.

Abure delivered the warning prior to a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC called by Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Peter Obi, the previous presidential candidate for the LP.

Abure called Obi and Otti traitors during a public conference held at the party office.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court’s ruling was unambiguous in emphasizing that LP issues are political platforms’ internal concerns.

According to Abure: “Tell them that there is no vacancy in our party. In the Labour Party, we don’t betray our candidates even though some betray us after giving them tickets.

“We also want to urge those who have been deceived by last week’s misleading interpretation of the Supreme Court judgment to disregard the speculation. I remain the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

“Again, the Labour Party Constitution does not recognise the setting up of a caretaker committee for party affairs.”

According to ZINGTIE, Obi and Otti had requested a meeting of the NEC, which was set for Wednesday in Abuja.

The two announced that a town hall gathering with key stakeholders will take place at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja after the meeting.
