Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza.

Netanyahu made this statement during an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.

Several countries have condemned the idea, labeling it as ethnic cleansing.

However, Netanyahu did not specifically address Trump’s proposal for the United States to take control of the Gaza Strip, but he supported the concept of allowing Gazans who wish to leave the option to do so.

“I mean, what’s wrong with that? They can leave, they can then come back, they can relocate and come back. But you have to rebuild Gaza,” he said.

The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that he did not believe Trump’s plan involved sending US troops to fight Hamas in Gaza or that Washington would fund reconstruction efforts.

“This is the first good idea that I’ve heard. It’s a remarkable idea, and I think it should be really pursued, examined, pursued and done, because I think it will create a different future for everyone,” he added.

Since January 25, Trump has consistently proposed that Palestinians in Gaza should be resettled in neighboring Arab countries like Egypt and Jordan, a plan that has been rejected by both Arab nations and Palestinian leaders.

Trump’s aide had defended the proposal but later distanced themselves from some aspects after facing international backlash.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which are currently paused due to a fragile ceasefire, have resulted in the deaths of over 47,000 Palestinians in the past 16 months.
