A significant network failure has impacted a major telecommunications provider in Nigeria, leaving numerous communities in Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States without mobile or internet connectivity since Thursday evening.

Residents in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, have reported a total loss of network access, with many forced to either switch to alternative providers or remain disconnected.

Jafar Hamid, who lives in Birnin Kebbi, described the situation as deeply frustrating.

“There’s no service since last night. Calls are not going through, and we can’t do any online transactions,” he said.

The disruption has had serious implications for both students and small business owners.

Aminu, a student from Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, shared how the outage affected life on campus. “One student couldn’t go home last night because he couldn’t transfer money due to the blackout. He had to sleep in class,” Aminu said.

Residents from various parts of Sokoto and Zamfara have also acknowledged experiencing the same issue. Mujahid Aliyu Morai, who hails from Morai in Zamfara, said the outage has continued without any official communication from the service provider.

“This is not just in Kebbi; we are affected here too,” he said.
