Nigeria has degenerated to electoral autocracy, and the Liberal Progressive & Patriotic Members Congress, or LPPMC, has noted with dismay that constitutional disobedience is necessary to restore the system.

The Congress emphasized the need for a biometric audit of INEC’s voter register immediately, blockchain-based voting systems to prevent tampering, and live streaming of all results collation in a statement released by LPPMC’s National Coordinator, Dr. Kingsley Okundaye, on behalf of 21 other leaders.

The group decided to seek a constitutional change to penalize judges who undermine electoral fairness and set a 90-day deadline for election petitions, stating that democracy devolves into tyranny when courts legalize electoral heists.

The communique demanded constitutional recognition of power rotation between regions and religions, claiming that northern marginalization has not been addressed in 25 years of democracy.

According to gender policy discussions, LPPMC promises to reserve 40% of leadership positions for women and young people by launching “Democracy Literacy Campaigns” in each of the 774 LGAs as part of its grassroots mobilization efforts.

LPPMC said, “The 2023 elections showed rigging is now institutionalized. We must act now or lose Nigeria completely.”

It demanded the creation of a 37-state Coalition for Electoral Integrity by July 1 and claimed that the Labour Party’s takeover demonstrated the necessity for additional protections against political predators.

It gave INEC a deadline of August 30 to purify the voter registration and start widespread voter instruction by September 12.
