The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria has initiated an investigation into the altercation involving Air Peace and Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North.

This directive was made known through a statement posted on his official X account on Friday.

The investigation follows a heated exchange between Oshiomhole and the airline after an incident occurred on Wednesday morning at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, specifically in Zulu Hall.

According to the airline, Oshiomhole was involved in a disruptive and aggressive act that affected one of its scheduled flights.

In contrast, the senator refuted these allegations, claiming the airline barred him and several others from boarding, despite having successfully checked in online.

He went on to accuse the airline of dishonest conduct, including financial exploitation and other unethical behavior.

The airline, however, rejected these claims, standing by its version of events.

Meanwhile, the minister has called on all parties involved to be measured and cautious in their public comments as the matter is being reviewed.

“In the wake of the incident at the Lagos Airport last Wednesday involving AIRPEACE Airline and His Excellency, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, I have been in direct contact with both parties since that morning,” Keyamo said.

“Whilst appealing to both sides to halt the public accusations and counter-accusations, I am further directing the relevant aviation agencies to thoroughly look into the issue, collect all available evidence, and revert to my office so we can deal with the issue in such a way as to guide future conduct in similar situations.”
