According to Terry G, a Nigerian artist whose real name is Gabriel Oche Amanyi, he briefly went by the stage name “Terry Gzuz.”
In response to those who assert that his career ended the day he changed his name to Terry Gzus as part of a personal rebranding attempt, Terry G stated this explanation. However, he soon abandoned the change because fans and followers mistook “Gzuz” for “Jesus.” He explained
He recently corrected the record with a big photo and a caption on Instagram.
“They say my career ended the day I became Terry Gzus. But let me set the record straight, my journey didn’t end, it was divinely redirected,” he wrote.
He explained that “Gzus” means “a reflection of the God in me — fearless, chosen, and unapologetic,” rather than Jesus Christ.
Terry G added, “You don’t kill purpose by changing a name. What’s ordained can’t be cancelled.”
