Nigeria has one of the lowest value added taxes in the world, according to Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

This was revealed by Bill Gates on Tuesday during the Nutrivision 2024 discussion in Abuja.

In response to a query about possible funding sources for extensive public health initiatives, the billionaire stated as much.

He claims that plans exist for the government to provide funding for other health-related initiatives.

“Over time, there are plans for Nigeria to fund the government more than it does today. The actual tax collection in Nigeria is pretty low.

This occurs while Bill Gates attended Wednesday’s National Economic Council in Nigeria.

Recall, a bill to raise VAT from 7.5 percent to 10 percent is now being considered, according to Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
