Nnamdi Kanu’s Wife, Uchechi Finally Responds to Viral Divorce Reports

Uchechi, the wife of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to reports alleging that she filed for divorce while her husband is serving a life imprisonment sentence.

Responding with a laughing emoji, Uchechi dismissed the reports, saying she had only just become aware of claims that she had initiated divorce proceedings against her husband.

In a post shared on her verified X handle, she wrote: “Good conscious evening, my blessed Biafrans. I have just learned that I filed for Divorce while my husband is in prison.”

The reports had alleged that Uchechi decided to seek a divorce after years of alleged infidelity, financial neglect and persistent interference from Kanu’s family, claiming those issues had irreparably damaged the marriage.

According to the reports, Uchechi, who married the IPOB leader in 2009, allegedly endured more than a decade of emotional hardship stemming from Kanu’s alleged promiscuous lifestyle and multiple extramarital relationships.

The reports further claimed that before Kanu’s widely publicised arrest in 2015, he was allegedly involved with a woman identified as Chioma Amaryllis Ahaghotu, whom he reportedly met in 2014.

According to the reports, Chioma allegedly believed Kanu was unmarried at the time and reportedly supported him financially with thousands of dollars before ending the relationship after allegedly discovering what she described as a pattern of deception and exploitation.

Meanwhile, Kanu is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre after being convicted on terrorism charges linked to his agitation for Biafra.
