The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) in Plano, Texas, has received a $3 million grant from Albertsons Companies and its philanthropic arm, the Tom Thumb Foundation. The multiyear grant will help drive NTFB’s new strategic plan, which includes expanding partnerships, investing in wrap-around services, and closing the meal gap across the region.

The grant is part of the Nourishing Neighbours Innovation Spark Grant programme, which recognises nonprofit organisations that develop new programmes to create long-term solutions and empower individuals and families to achieve lasting food security. NTFB’s president and CEO, Trisha Cunningham, expressed gratitude for the grant, saying, “This grant from Nourishing Neighbours is a major step forward in our work… Their continued partnership means we can go beyond food and help people build stronger, more secure futures.”
The grant will enable NTFB to provide more comprehensive support to individuals and families in need, helping them to achieve lasting food security and build better lives. Cunningham emphasised that the grant will allow the food bank to “give families not just a meal today, but the support they need to thrive.
