Obi, Kwankwaso: NDC Reveals What Is Coming Next Ahead Of 2027

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has announced plans to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, following consultations with stakeholders across the country.

The party disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq.

According to the statement, presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have met with the party’s national leader and other members of the leadership over the composition of the campaign council.

The party said Obi and Kwankwaso had been authorised to nominate key officials of the campaign council, including the Director-General, Deputy Director-General (North), Spokesman, Deputy Spokesperson, Head of New Media, Finance Director and Deputy Finance Director.

Parts of the statement read, “In this regard, our Presidential Candidate and his Vice-Presidential Candidate have held several productive meetings with the National Leader and the leadership of the party. To ensure inclusiveness, cohesion, and victory, the party at the national level has agreed as follows:

“Our Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, shall nominate the Director-General of the Campaign, Deputy Director-General (North), the Spokesman of the Campaign, Deputy Spokesperson, Head of New Media, the Finance Director, Deputy Finance Director and several others in consultation with the party.

“The party leadership has given a free hand to the presidential candidate and his running mate to make nominations.

“The Finance Director and his Deputy, in collaboration with the National Treasurer of the party, shall manage all campaign funds in the spirit of transparency and accountability, as the party is saddled with the responsibility of rendering accounts to INEC in line with the Electoral Act.

“A full organogram of the campaign structure has been developed since August and made available to both Mr. Peter Obi and Dr. Kwankwaso for their input, while we also got nominations from other stakeholders across the country.

“The party wishes to assure the public that as soon as we receive the inputs of our Presidential Candidate and his Vice, the NDC shall proceed to announce and inaugurate the same. We have also proposed a campaign timetable since August, and we are waiting to conclude arrangements for the funding and fundraising for the campaign, to be spearheaded by the candidates.

“The money raised shall be paid into the presidential campaign account to be managed by officers nominated by the presidential candidate and his running mate, as well as the party national treasurer.

“The inauguration of the PCC was earlier scheduled for the first week of September but had to be put off due to the travel schedule of the presidential candidate. We also appeal to all our candidates at all levels to restrain their supporters and support groups to focus on the need to win elections.

“There are no battles to fight within the NDC. The common opponent to defeat is the ruling APC. We are committed as a party. The party has done its own and is ready to do more. The candidates and their supporters are encouraged to do the same. Our candidates should keep their eyes on the ball and focus on winning.

“The NDC wants all our candidates at all levels to win resoundingly, especially as they are not running as independent candidates.

“Similarly, the party’s leadership in line with the Electoral Act, 2026, has directed all State Chairmen and Local Government Area Chairmen to immediately convene meetings with candidates and relevant stakeholders in their respective states to collate and harmonize the list of party agents to be deployed for the forthcoming general elections.

“Accordingly, the party further directs as follows, the state and LGA Chairmen

shall meet with candidates and stakeholders to generate a comprehensive list of two sets of party agents, one for national assembly elections and another set for governorship/state assembly elections.

“These party agents shall be scrutinized and ratified by the party’s leadership, including the presidential candidate and his running mate before training commences. The exercise shall be concluded, and the final list submitted within two (2) weeks from the date of this directive.

“The committee saddled with the responsibility of appointing our party agents is chaired by Comrade Babatunde Alli, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Vin Martin llo (Secretary) Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Nafiu Dankura; and the National Vice Chairmen of the six geopolitical zones are members.”
