Tinubu’s Absence: Presidency Reveals Who Is In Charge Of Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, on Tuesday said the President can govern Nigeria from any location around the world.

Bwala made the statement while responding to questions raised by presidential candidates of the African Democratic Party, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, over who is currently in charge of the country.

Tinubu is currently on vacation in Paris, while Vice President Kashim Shettima is in the United States attending the 81st United Nations General Assembly, UNGA.

Reacting to the concerns raised by Atiku and Obi, Bwala argued that neither of the two presidential candidates had presented a clear alternative.

Posting on X, he wrote: “It is funny how opposition candidates are asking the question who is in charge of Nigeria simply because the president and¹ Vice President are out of the country.

“For avoidance of doubt, the power of the president to govern Nigeria is not limited to geography. As commander in chief of the armed forces, he can order, direct, delegate and or administer the constitution of Nigeria anywhere in the world. See section 5 of the constitution.

“@atiku and @PeterObi, you both have not yet defined and or explained a clear alternative path other than populist rhetoric.”
