The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has begun discussions with Lotus Bank and HelloBikee over the use of e-bikes, often known as electric motorcycles, for student mobility as part of initiatives to facilitate student movement within and outside of its Abeokuta campus.

Consequently, the teams from Lotus Bank and HelloBikee met with the university’s management, led by professor and vice chancellor Babatunde Kehinde, and an agreement was reached regarding the provision of electric bikes, financial mobilization, and transportation system maintenance.

BusinessDay reports that HelloBike will supply the electric bikes as part of the agreement, and Lotus Bank will finance the project. However, since the electric bikes are primarily intended for university employees and students, the university will be in charge of their use.

Ahmad Opeifa, co-founder of HelloBikee, said during a recent discussion with university management that the project will include introducing electric bikes to make transit on and off campus easier.

Aderonke Chukwueleme, Team Lead of Lotus Bank, expressed readiness to collaborate with FUNAAB in promoting mobility using e-bikes, emphasising that one of Lotus Bank’s goals was to impact lives
