The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, reports that it had 69,376 registrants as of Monday, August 18, 2025, when the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, or CVR, began with online voter pre-registration.

According to ZINGTIE, the registration portal launched on Monday at 8.30 am, and INEC declared that up to 69,376 Nigerians had pre-registered online by 3.30 pm, which was seven hours later.

According to this number, there are 33,803 (48.7%) men and 35,573 (51.3%) women.

According to the data, 48,033 people (69.2%) are young adults between the ages of 18 and 34.

Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, said the portal is accessible at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

According to the Commission, the in-person registration option will open on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays (Monday through Friday) only at its 811 state and local government offices around the country.

“This will enable those who prefer the in-person option to register and for the online pre-registrants to complete their registration,” the statement said.

“The two options will proceed simultaneously throughout the duration of the CVR as indicated in the schedule earlier released by the Commission,” it added.

“From next week, the Commission will be giving weekly updates on the CVR, including detailed breakdown by State, gender, age, occupation and disability.

“For emphasis, the public should note that voter registration is only open to Nigerian citizens who are at least 18 years old and who are not registered voters.

“Double or multiple registration is a violation of the law. However, inter-State/FCT and intra-State/FCT transfer of voters as well as the replacement of lost or damaged voters cards are allowed during the CVR.”
