Atletico Madrid have reportedly declined the chance to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, despite the player being offered to the Spanish club in a deal valued at around €75 million, according to Club Uria, as cited by Goal.

The Super Eagles forward was reportedly willing to accept a salary reduction to play under Diego Simeone, but Atletico Madrid decided against pursuing the move.

According to the report, Galatasaray, through intermediaries, approached Atletico Madrid with an offer involving Osimhen.

The proposed transfer for the 27-year-old Nigerian international was valued at approximately €75 million.

However, the La Liga club officially turned down the opportunity to bring the striker to the Metropolitano.

The report added that Atletico Madrid currently lack the financial capacity to complete a transfer of that magnitude during the ongoing transfer window.

The club already has Julián Álvarez occupying the central attacking role, with the management fully committed to the Argentine forward and not considering any plans to sell him, making Osimhen’s arrival unnecessary.

In a strong indication of his interest in joining Atletico Madrid, Osimhen was reportedly prepared to take a pay cut.

The striker currently earns a lucrative salary at Galatasaray, where his net income is boosted by tax incentives available to foreign players in Turkey.

Although Osimhen remains under contract with the Istanbul-based club until 2029, his willingness to reduce his wages reportedly reflects his desire to work under Diego Simeone.

Despite the Nigerian forward’s interest in the move, Atletico Madrid have maintained their decision not to pursue the €75 million deal.
