Osun Assembly endorses Gov Adeleke for second term

In advance of the state’s 2026 gubernatorial election, members of the Osun State House of Assembly unanimously approved Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

Taofiq Olayiwola of Ede South State Constituency seconded the motion for the vote of confidence, which was proposed by Adewumi Adeyemi of Obokun State Constituency.

The endorsement was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, where the 26-member Assembly, composed of 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and one from the All Progressives Congress, APC, voiced their entire support for the governor.

Speaker Adewale Egbedun, who presided over the meeting, commended the governor’s accomplishments in honor of his 65th birthday.

He highlighted the governor’s effective leadership and dedication to his five-point agenda while praising him for his commitment to Osun State’s development.

The Speaker emphasized that the parliamentarians, acting as the people’s representatives, were proud of the governor’s leadership and encouraged him to keep aiming for even bigger successes.

While encouraging his colleagues to share their thoughts on the endorsement, Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, paid a passionate homage to the governor, complimenting his honesty and true personality.

He said, “Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”

The Speaker called for a vote after the proposal, and the chamber approved it.
