As Osun State prepares for Saturday’s governorship election, Nigerian businessman, Isaac Fayose, has expressed concern over what he described as the growing presence of political thugs across the state.
Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Thursday shared a disturbing video allegedly showing the arrest of suspected political thugs believed to be associated with the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The viral footage reportedly showed about 11 suspected thugs being transported in an APC campaign vehicle before they were arrested.
The incident has raised fresh security concerns in the state, where reports of political attacks and killings have continued to emerge ahead of the election.
Reacting to the video, Fayose voiced concern over the political climate in Osun, warning that Nigeria was heading into trouble.
He also cautioned that the country could encounter serious difficulties ahead of the 2027 general elections, pointing to the security developments in Osun State as a warning sign.
He said, “I hope you all are seeing APC’s respiration in Osun. They have flooded the state with all kinds of thugs. We are in trouble.
“APC wants to win by force and so they brought thugs to the state. We are in trouble in 2027. If you think we are okay, we are not.
“This APC desperation does not have part two. Nigerians, you must arise and take your country back. This is definitely not the country you want.”
The APC and Accord Party, the two leading political parties contesting Saturday’s election, have continued to trade allegations over reported attacks and incidents of violence in various parts of Osun State.
