Social commentator and businessman, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate Peter Obi would comfortably win the 2027 presidential election in Abuja.

Fayose made the assertion on Tuesday while featuring on News Central TV, following recent comments by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, that the opposition lacks sufficient popularity in the nation’s capital.

Wike had, during an interview, described the 2027 presidential contest as an easy one, maintaining that President Bola Tinubu would win both Rivers State and the FCT.

Fayose, however, disagreed with the minister, insisting that “Abuja is NDC, Abuja is Peter Obi.”

He further claimed that the only option left for the ruling party was to “write results”, while stating that plans had been put in place to stop any alleged attempt to manipulate the election.

According to Fayose, the NDC has developed strategies aimed at ensuring that the 2027 election is not manipulated by any individual or group.

“People are ready to vote. All we are scared of now is what angle are they going to suppress us from this time? This is the only area we are trying to fine-tune.

“Go to the street and try to talk to one or two people. Ask them, ‘Who are you going to vote for?’

“Abroad, before the proper election, they seek people’s opinions on who they want to vote for through mock elections. We don’t do that in Nigeria, but we need to start doing it,” he said.
