According to reports, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the support of all three of the PDP senators from Osun State as their only candidate for the general elections in 2027.

Senators Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East), Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), and Kamarudeen Lere Oyewumi (Osun West) together released a statement in Abuja announcing the endorsement.

The senators who endorsed Tinubu under the auspices of the PDP’s Osun State Senators’ Caucus commended his economic and infrastructure accomplishments.

Their claim is that Tinubu’s initiatives have produced “tangible benefits, a significant reduction in food prices and improvements in national security.’

“This overwhelming endorsement goes beyond mere symbolism; it is a clear reflection of genuine confidence and satisfaction with President Tinubu’s delivery of democratic dividends,” the senators said.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary and Osun gubernatorial candidate, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, responded to the incident by applauding the PDP senators for their position.

In a statement released in Osogbo on Wednesday by Professor Remi Ajala on behalf of the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organization, or SABCO, Basiru called the senators’ action a sign of honesty and statesmanship and asked them to join the APC formally.

“We appreciate that these senators have acknowledged the Renewed Hope Agenda and how it is beginning to positively impact their constituencies,” the statement read.

In order to demonstrate their dedication to Tinubu’s leadership, Basiru asked the MPs to totally align with the APC rather than only endorse it.

“Pitching your tent with the APC will help bring the needed development to Osun APC-led state government when inaugurated in 2026,” he said.

According to the campaign group, their cooperation will guarantee that Osun State gains the most from the president’s plan for the country’s progress.

It also emphasized how crucial political cooperation between federal legislators and state governments is to boosting development in industries like healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

“We call on the three Osun PDP senators to display courage and show real leadership by joining forces with progressive elements,” Basiru added.

Additionally, he urged them to follow in the footsteps of other National Assembly members who switched from their previous parties to the APC.

In addition to validating their endorsement, he said, full integration into the ruling party would put their constituents in a position to receive more federal support.
