Palestinian death toll rises to 42,000 in Gaza

Since the start of the Gaza conflict more than a year ago, 42,010 Palestinians have died, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, 97,720 more Palestinians have reportedly been injured, according to the government.

Although the numbers cannot be independently verified and do not distinguish between fighters and civilians, international agencies like the United Nations find them to be generally credible.

According to reports, the Shejaiya neighbourhood of Gaza City and the refugee camps of Jabalia and Nuseirat were the main targets of the recent advances in the north.

Rescue workers from Palestine regarded the attacks as exceedingly fierce, stating that the heavy fighting often prevented them from reaching the injured.

According to medical professionals, a single Israeli airstrike on a residential building claimed the lives of nine members of one family.

The Israeli military has not yet provided an explanation for the incident, and the information could not be independently verified.
