Paul Pogba banned for four years over doping

Paul Pogba, the winner of the France World Cup, receives a four-year football ban due to doping.

Pogba, a midfield player for Juventus who turns 31 in March, has virtually had his career ended by this sentence.

Test results from August indicated that Pogba, suspended since last September, had higher than normal testosterone levels, a hormone that improves endurance in sports.

When the tribunal discovered the banned chemical “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites,” a hormone that boosts athletes’ endurance, they said Pogba had broken anti-doping rules.

After examining a second test sample, the former Manchester United player was given a four-year ban, regarded as one of the harshest penalties for the offense.
