Monaco have officially confirmed the termination of Paul Pogba’s contract, bringing his spell with the Ligue 1 club to an end.
The French midfielder was released by Monaco on Wednesday following a difficult period marked by repeated injury problems.
The 33-year-old former Manchester United and Juventus player has struggled to return to his previous level since completing his suspension for a doping offence.
In an official statement, Monaco said the objectives initially set for Pogba had been “only partially achieved”.
Despite the decision, the club praised the midfielder for his “remarkable mindset, determination and unwavering high standards”.
Monaco also highlighted Pogba’s positive influence within the squad during periods when he was unavailable, noting that he contributed by “sharing his experience and know-how” with his teammates.
Pogba, in the same statement, admitted that he had not “played as many matches” as expected during his time at the club.
The former France international also expressed his appreciation to the “president, management, teammates, all the staff as well as all the supporters who believed.”
