Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has questioned the suitability of African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing him as too old for the race.
Fayose made the remark during an interview on TVC’s Politics Tonight, where he compared the former vice president to ex-United States President Joe Biden.
The former Ekiti governor argued that Atiku’s age could pose a major concern as he seeks to return to the presidential contest in 2027.
Fayose also raised concerns about the political prospects of Atiku’s running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, particularly in the South-South region.
According to him, Amaechi faces difficulties in the region because of what he described as his limited political influence.
“Atiku is now really old. He’s a good man, but time has caught up with him. Atiku contesting an election is like calling Biden to come and contest again.
“Let me say this again: President Bola Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi, this is their last chance of contesting an election. The three of them.
“In Rivers State, during this election, Amaechi will have very little support. Even the party is not together. Most of these ADC and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, members are not on ground. Nobody is connected to those parties yet,” he said.
