The official website of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been updated to include the names of newly recognized members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Included in the list are Abdulrahman Mohammed serving as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, along with other members of the party’s national leadership.

During the PDP National Convention that took place late last night in Abuja, Abdulrahman and Anyanwu were both elected. This event has sparked controversy due to competing claims from rival factions within the party.

This development comes in the wake of disagreements about the convention, as various factions challenge the outcome’s legitimacy.

Observers are interpreting INEC’s update as a significant step that may indicate recognition of the list submitted to the electoral body.

This action occurs in the context of continuing internal tensions within the PDP, with some stakeholders allegedly looking for legal remedies to resolve the leadership crisis that arose post-convention.

With Nigeria nearing its next general elections, the PDP is anticipated to keep dealing with internal issues related to its leadership structure.
