Bode George reveals PDP’s status in Lagos now

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has refuted claims that the party has disintegrated in Lagos.

Speaking to journalists on Monday after a meeting with PDP stakeholders in Lagos, George compared the party’s foundation in both the state and the country to the deep-rooted Iroko or Lebanon oak tree.

Recently, several key figures within the Lagos PDP, including the 2023 governorship candidate Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) and party spokesperson Alhaji Hakeem Amode, switched allegiance to the opposing All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors claimed that the PDP’s structure had merged with the APC—a notion George strongly opposed, calling it “nonsensical.”

He emphasized that while all institutions go through difficult times, the PDP remains resilient due to its deeply rooted and widespread presence throughout Nigeria.

“I want to assure our leaders that the Iroko political party is very much alive,” George said.

He regretted that a respected PDP elder endorsed Jandor in 2023, leading to him receiving the party’s flag—an endorsement he now considers unfortunate.

“It is absolutely nonsensical to say the PDP structure in Lagos State has collapsed into APC,” George insisted.
