Dino Melaye, who recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now operates under the influence of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former senator representing Kogi West alleged that the PDP has effectively become a subsidiary or extension of the ruling APC.
Speaking on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television on Friday night, Melaye asserted that the PDP schedules important meetings, including those of its National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), based on directives from the Presidential Villa.
He said: “PDP has been purchased by the APC, PDP is a parastatal of APC, and PDP is a department of APC.
“In fact they take dates for their NEC and NWC meetings from the Villa.”
The former lawmaker also accused PDP governors of failing to provide credible opposition to the APC-led federal government.
“Look at the number of governors of the PDP today, are they acting like opposition governors?
“You know the role of an opposition and how powerful Nigerian governors are, are they playing the opposition roles as governors? Those remaining in PDP are holding forth for APC.
“With due respect to my uncle Babangida Aliyu, you heard him just two days ago on Arise, he said if we can tolerate Buhari for eight years then we should tolerate Tinubu for another four years.
“Is that the voice of an opposition person? Is that the statement of somebody that should come from somebody not an APC person?”
He further warned that Nigeria is living in precarious times.
